A Timeless Stroll

To wander the narrow streets of Karaikudi is to be enveloped in an ancient inheritance. Stately villas
vie with colonial style bungalows and rambling ruins. Ornate wedding halls jostle next to schools and shops, all painting a picture of charm and faded elegance.

~

Wander the quaint markets and watch the silversmiths, stone carvers and wood carvers all work their skills in
the old workshops. Visit the local diamond merchant for some traditional jewelry that will melt your lady’s heart. For collectors with a keen eye, the antique shops can throw up some delightful bargains. History buffs will enjoy visiting the numerous temples in the area with their colourful ‘gopurams’, including the famous 1800 year old Pallayiar Patti temple, at a distance of 12km.
